This project took place during the 2008 U.S. presidential primaries, when Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama were campaigning vigorously against each other for a spot on the Democratic ticket. Health care reform was a major issue in the race, and coverage of the candidates’ health care positions was all over the news. “Health care reform” was one of the most widely searched terms on Google during this period.
The goal of the Health Care Reform Now Newsblog was to synthesize the abundance of health care reform coverage across the online news world and maintain a strong daily search-engine position that could compete with online news powerhouses like CNN.com and FoxNews.com, as well as the thousands of other health care blogs and news sites out there. As you can see in the screen capture below, we succeeded, driving the Newsblog to the top of Google Blog Search for the term “health care reform:”
